Blog Project Week 31: Balance
Many philosophies around the world frequently talk about the balance of life. When there is bad, there must also be good. Light and dark, sun and moon, fire and water -- they balance each other out.
For "Balance" I took a photo of my cousin Lauren holding up her sister Sammi on her back. It shows Lauren working to not drop her sister (not to mention try to look at the camera and smile), while it shows my little cousin Sammi relaxing on her sister's back able to look up at the passing puffy clouds. They become one unit representing a balance between work and play.
It also shows the need for balance in relationships. Any relationship (whether it be friendship, family or romantic) requires both give and take to be healthy and functioning. Lauren is protecting her little sister by making sure she doesn't fall off her back, and later in the day when Lauren tried on our grandmother's prom dress from college Sammi was quick to look at her big sister and gasp "Lauren! You look BEAUUUUUTIFUL!".
The girls have each other's backs...literally and figuratively!
